Georgetown chiropractic spinal manipulation care is relieving and cost reducing.

SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE

Dr. Butwell welcomes all spine pain patients! Spine pain is unwelcome by its sufferers. Georgetown chiropractic spinal manipulation is beneficial for many. Though low back pain is a major source of disability around the world, its sufferers who have persistent or recurrent bouts of low back pain find chiropractic maintenance care effective as it is patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, report benefit with chiropractic. Neck pain patients treated with spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – were found to be 2.38 times less likely to need escalated and costly care like imaging, injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated with other kinds of care (46%). (2) A new study of Medicare patient claims reports that patients who had less access to chiropractic care had an increase in visits (32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and a rise in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000 Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Georgetown chiropractor is well-qualified in delivering spinal manipulation.  Spinal manipulation is and has been advised as first-line treatment for low back pain. Reviews of Medicare claims note that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal manipulation and that the overall supply of spinal manipulation providers is dropping. (4) Have no fear! Your hometown, Georgetown chiropractor does not intend to stop providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, especially the gentle, research-backed Cox® Technic style of spinal manipulation.

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Kurt Olding on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson as he presents research on the place of spinal manipulation in the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management for the relief of spinal stenosis, a common spine pain condition in the over-65 age group.

Dr. Butwell shares new research on the benefit of adequate B vitamin levels.

Georgetown CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:

Beneficial B Vitamins

B vitamins are beneficial. B12 deficiency is commonly associated with dementia in patients 65 years old and over. It has also been found in younger people who have normal B12 levels but have a high methylmalonic acid (MMA) level. Testing the MMA level may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who was found to have a high MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation is showing potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain and could lessen the necessary doses of analgesic drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A new study found that B2 to be anti-itch. (7) Are your B levels good? We’ll talk at your next visit!
